CSV Converter • Offline is designed with privacy at its core. We operate on a simple principle: your data never leaves your device. All CSV processing happens 100% offline in your browser.

We respect the privacy of all users of our extension and comply with the User Data Privacy policy and the Limited Uses of User Data policy for the Chrome Web Store. By using CSV Converter • Offline, an extension for Chrome and Chromium-based browsers, you consent to this privacy policy.

Data Collection & Transmission

Do we collect personal or sensitive data? NO

We do not collect and do not store your personal or sensitive data, including:

Personally identifiable information
CSV file contents or data
Browsing history
Cookies or cached items
Form data
Web browsing activity
Financial and payment information
Health information
Authentication information
Website content and resources

Do we transmit data to external servers? NO

We do not transmit any personal or sensitive data (including the items listed above) to our servers or to third parties via secure or insecure networks. Your CSV files are processed entirely within your browser and never leave your computer.

Do we disclose data to third parties? NO

We do not sell, trade, collect, store, transmit, or otherwise transfer to third parties your personal or sensitive data. Your data remains confidential and under your complete control.

Local Storage Usage

Like most extensions, we use Chrome's local storage to save:

Extension settings: Your preferred language, advanced options, and UI preferences
License information: Your activation status and license tier (Trial, Beta, or Licensed)

Important: This data is stored locally on your device only and is never transmitted to any server.

Offline-First Architecture

Our extension operates with zero network requests during normal operation:

✅ CSV parsing and processing: 100% offline
✅ Anonymization and restoration: 100% offline
✅ Dictionary generation: 100% offline
✅ License validation: 100% offline (after initial activation)

The only network activity occurs when: You voluntarily click the "Get License" button to open our licensing portal in a new browser tab. Even then, your CSV data is never sent — only a hardware fingerprint (PC hash) and your email address are used to generate your license code.

Hardware-Bound Licensing

To provide our three-tier licensing system (Trial, Beta, Licensed), we use a privacy-conscious approach:

PC Fingerprint: A cryptographic hash generated from your browser and system characteristics (user agent, timezone, CPU cores, platform, language). This hash is anonymous and cannot be reverse-engineered to identify you personally.
License Activation: When you request a license via our web portal, we store only your email address and the PC hash to generate a hardware-bound license code.
No Personal Data: We do not collect names, addresses, phone numbers, or any other personally identifiable information beyond the email address you provide for license delivery.

Third-Party Services

Our licensing web portal (separate from the extension) uses:

Email Service: To deliver license codes to your email address (SMTP via Gmail, SendGrid, or Mailgun)
Local Database: To store license records on our server (email, PC hash, license tier, expiry date)

Important: These services are only involved during license activation and never have access to your CSV data or extension usage.

Permissions Explained

Our extension requests minimal Chrome permissions:

"storage": To save your settings and license information locally on your device
"downloads": To allow you to download (from your browser to your disk, not from the internet) nonymized CSVs, dictionary files, and restored CSVs

We do not request permissions for browsing history, tabs, cookies, or network access beyond what's needed for file downloads.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will update the Privacy Policy modification date below. Policy changes will apply only to information collected after the date of the change, unless otherwise indicated.
