Direct download vs. App Store — what changes?
- Nothing about your labels. Both builds are the same app with the same identity: your desktop names and settings carry over if you ever switch between them.
- Purchases live on the App Store. The direct build is free for up to 3 desktops. To unlock unlimited desktops, install the App Store version and buy the one-time unlock there — your labels stay put. After installing from the App Store, drag the direct copy to the Trash: your names and settings carry over automatically.
- Even more private. The direct build performs no network requests at all — it does not even include Apple's purchase framework. Your desktop names never leave your Mac.
- Updates are manual. The direct build never phones home. Use Check for Updates… in its menu (it opens this site in your browser) and compare with the version above.
